Hey everyone!! Maine has a pretty cool boardwalk. It’s OOB as the locals call it. Old Orchard Beach! Yeas! Here is the only beachfront amusement park in New England! Incredible right? So here at Old Orchard Beach we can ride some rides such as The Pirate, Riptide, or Power Surge. Adrenalin is another. Or how about those roller coasters?! Woo-hoo! Those are the scarier ones. For families there’s Tilter Whirl, Superstar, Wave Swinger, and Drop Zone is another. There’s plenty of rides for the little ones too. They have the Carousel, Frog Hopper, Euro Slide, Crop Duster, and The Dizzy Dragon. Lots of rides here at Palace Playland, the action park! Tickets go for $25 a piece. This is a great place for families to find a beautiful beach and an amusement park.
The beach here is beautiful and with 7 miles there’s plenty of room. But on a warm sunny day get here early to pick your spot to enjoy the beach. When it gets too hot or if you feel like getting some fries or pizza you can simply walk to the boardwalk or go to the amusement park. You’ll definitely love this clean gorgeous beach.
Or if you are here to have a good time with your friends and you are of the drinking age, you’ll enjoy playing at the beach, or the carnival. But maybe you’ll enjoy renting a limo and hopping to the different local bars. They offer great drinks and some really yummy meals. Quick weekend getaway to Ocean Park and we walked the beach looking for a beer and a snack. Hooligan’s Irish pub offers clam chowder, a haddock sandwich and fried calamari. You can sit out on the pier and overlook the beach with this meal. Or maybe you want to try something a little different like GFB Scottish Pub. Here you’ll find Scottish Eggs and Haggis. The Tartan burger is a mixture of corned beef brisket and chuck that they grind themselves in the their kitchen! Yum! They have deep fried pickles and green beans! Sounds delic! Did you want to play some darts or beer pong?? Don’t forget they wear kilts here!! Here you go. Many stores and other restaurants to check out here. We all loved it!
Pleasure Pier is located in Galveston, Texas. It’s a beautiful pier with rides and shops. Lot’s of families enjoy the shark roller coaster, which usually has long waiting lines. There’s a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and a log flume. Lot’s of people also enjoy the astrosphere, which happens to be one of my favorites. Well that one and the roller coaster of course. What about these swings? It is 230 feet high and it swings out over the water. What a thrill ride this is. There’s also an swinging pendulum ride that again swings out over the water. Fun! Fun! This pier is beautiful at night with all of its rides lit up of course it’s on the water. We all love that.
If you check with other people you’ll find that one downfall is it costs just to get on the boardwalk. Yes, it’s $10 just to go and walk around on Pleasure Pier. A lot of people are disappointed in this pier because they charge just to get on the pier. What bummer! Why would you do that!? Some of us just want to bring our children or see the pier. Some of us turn around and walk right back out because we don’t want to pay this price. Think about that. If it’s you and your significant other and 2 kids, you’ll be paying about $40 just to get on the pier. Ridiculous right? Because then you need to pay another $20 per kid, and then $40 per adult. So lets add that up real quick like for 2 adults and 2 kids. Just to get on the boardwalk its $40. Then let’s add on the $20 a piece for each kid, so now you’re looking at $80. Now let’s add $40 a piece for the adults, which would be another $80 for a grand total of $160 just to go on this boardwalk for a family of 4. Disappointing but its beautiful and maybe even worth it.
This park is such a cool place. We took a family trip here to Spokane, Washington and we went to this park. There was so much to do here. I’ll tell you all about this neat place. First off the park is quite large 8 city blocks by 6 city blocks, roughly. And the Spokane River flows through this park splitting it into 3 different sections.
The park was once a fair known as the 1974 EXPO. There’s a carrousel from 1909 known as Loof Carrousel. This carrousel has a giraffe, tiger, 2 dragon chariot benches and 54 hand carved horses. With A. Ruth & Sohn Band Organ, lights, mirrors and gorgeous decorations you’ll surely be entertained on this old carrousel. This fair has it all. In the winter there’s an ice skating rink, in the summer it turns into the mini golf course, Apple Go Round, Roller Coaster, Bumper Cars, and Octopus. For some beautiful views, you may enjoy riding the Farris Wheel or a Sky Ride type train to see everything from above. You can even find a IMAX theatre here.
You can do some biking here on these asphalt trails or walking, whichever you prefer. See some of the beauties in this place such as the Clock Tower and the waterfall. You also hear music and find entertainment here. It does cost about $18 for a combo ticket or you could just pay $2 to ride the carrousel. It’s a fun way to spend a day or if you’re anything like my kids, lol. I’ve got to tell you this one. We paid for combo tickets, and we had a great time.
But at the end of the day our son was pointing at this guy hanging out of a tree. We all stopped walking and just watched this man, in a harness hanging out of a tree…like this is neat! I kid you not we stood there for over 3o minutes just watching this man’s talent. He wasn’t do anything like you’d see on a fly trapeze but he effortlessly took down branch after branch that had been damaged from a storm. They were worried about them falling and possibly landing on someone. This man has a chainsaw which he had roped off and he himself roped off. Before he’d cut a piece of the branch he would tie that off as well, and then cut it, and hoist it down to his partner who would get it on the ground and untie it and the other guy would pull it back up and repeat the process. They worked until the tree top was safely down. And that my friends was probably the most interesting thing my kids have seen in a long time! My son now climbs trees and pretends to be taking down the tree. That would be my son. Haha Nice work treeservicespokane.org
for the lesson!
Now this boardwalk is awesome! It’s located in St. Ignace and it’s actually spruce and maple lined and it’s a mile long! Yes!! You have your shops on one side and the sandy beach on the other. Perfect day to me!
Here at Lake Huron they catch fresh whitefish and bake it on a maple plank!! Oh my yum!! They cook it at this restaurant Mackinac Grille! Yes! You need to come to St. Ignace and find this place!
There’s a few places you will have to check out here. It’s a great place for us tourists. So you have your Huron Boardwalk with your shops, and your beach. If that’s not enough for you well then you can drive north end of Ignace and check out this beautiful bridge called Mackinac Bridge. This bridge is 126,372 feet long and is the 3rd longest suspended bridge. It’s an incredible view from here.
There’s a Museum of Ojibwa Culture that shows a lot of hand made things and a birch bark canoe. Pretty cool stuff to see here. And if you get a little hungry you should pop on over to Murdick’s Fudge. Everyone who loves fudge, or who am I kidding, everyone who thinks they don’t like fudge will love this fudge. Lots of different flavors and a lot of times if you buy 4 of them, you can get a free one! That’s a deal right there. We’re always looking for something for nothing 😉 Anyways for real, it’s amazing fudge. Not as good as my wife’s of course but it’s worth trying a piece or two!
Another place we all like to see is the Famous Castle Rock. It looks like a castle that’s about 200 feet high. Get views from the top and a great photo op. There is always time for a quick game of mini golf here as well. Or if you feel like flying through the trees you might like to try zip lining at 25 miles an hour!! Yes, that sounds like fun! Or check out the maze in the woods! There’s always stuff to do here. A souvenir barn where you can have your photo taken with Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, he called Babe. There are more tours to check out…Tours to Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, the Soo Locks, and the Les Cheneaux Islands all within an hour from this beautiful city St. Ignore.
Hey guys! My name is Kirk, and I visited this boardwalk. I’m going to tell you, there’s not a whole lot going on here in the town of Dunkirk, but spring is here and everything here on the boardwalk will be opening soon. Blind Tiger will be opening their doors on April 2, and I’d assume the other stores here will be doing the same. Anyways there’s a gorgeous boardwalk here with pretty awesome stores to visit. Blind Tiger which is a store that has local goods and micro brews. Pretty good stuff here. A couple of gift shops, Tower Gifts and Water’s Edge Gift Shop. Papaya Arts is another shop with hand made gifts and sea glass. Spikes Daily Pub is a nice place to get some beer they serve the local favorites and wine. For your ice cream we have Yummy’s Lakeside Ice Cream and many like to walk on the beach with it. If your looking for dinner, we have Campi’s Pizza. It’s a Sicilian pizza style, with the thick crust and the pizza’s here are always loaded. There are tables and Adirondack chairs to sit in. You also can carry your beer outside to enjoy as long as its in a can. There’s concerts out on the pier on Thursday nights from 6-9. Another fun thing to do here on the pier. Everything you need for your visit to Dunkirk is here on this boardwalk located in the harbor of Lake Erie. It’s a beautiful place to vistit with these stores right on the lake.
Welcome to the Dunkirk Market Blog! We’re excited about this new blog about this fantastic market place. My name is Kirk, and I’ll be back real soon to get blogging with you!!
